To help expedite the provision of affordable telecommunications access and business opportunities in rural communities, Grameen Foundation and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) launched the Village Phone Direct Manual to bring the benefits of telecommunications to local communities and micro entrepreneurs. The manual explains how microfinance institutions or other organizations can independently develop a Village Phone product for clients in small rural villages. Over the coming months, the manual will be translated into several languages, including Spanish, French and Arabic.
